Proud to be part of the wider Hospice UK campaign
One patient in every four has reason to be grateful to a special supporter who made a gift in their will; each legacy donation enables patients and families to receive the compassionate specialist attention of our caring team as well as providing the time to make more precious memories.
There is no obligation to remember us, but any gift – large or small – is a legacy of kindness that will make a huge difference to families that need our care in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and Mid Wales.
We have teamed up with online wills specialist, Octopus Legacy – so you can make your will today for FREE.
Write your free online will in three simple steps with our provider Octopus. Their service is quick, easy to use and checked by their in-house legal team. Your legacy starts by clicking on the button below.

Severn Hospice has been helping families facing heartbreak for more than 35 years. We are with our patients and those important to them from the moment they are referred to our care for as long as they need us. We do all of this for free, but it is not without cost.

The beneficiary and their family will never have the chance
to personally thank the individual for their precious support, which is why we created our legacy sculptures in Telford and Shrewsbury, to acknowledge the invaluable contribution made by those who left the hospice a gift in their will.
We have beautiful legacy sculptures in our hospice gardens in Telford and Shrewsbury. These sculptures are copper trees and the name of every hospice legator is engraved on individual leaves as a lasting tribute to the generosity they have showed to our cause.
Each year, we personally thank the families of those kind enough to leave a gift in their will by hosting a visit to the sculpture for them.
Severn Hospice has been caring for families facing heartbreak for more than 35 years, so you can feel reassured that we are a well run charity. We take our responsibility to look after the gift you entrust to us very seriously and will ensure it is used to make the biggest impact.
Gifts in wills support the care of one in four of our patients.
Each year, we are privileged to be remembered in the wills of hundreds of kind supporters.
If you would like to join this ever-growing group of special people there are a number of ways you can formally confirm your wishes.
However you choose to make your will, if you are choosing to leave a gift to Severn Hospice you will need the following information:
Our registered office – Severn Hospice, Bicton Heath, Shrewsbury, Shropshire SY3 8HS
Our registered charity number – 512394
You can choose to leave a specific amount or a share of the residue of your estate to Severn Hospice. Unlike a specified sum of money in your will, this latter donation does not lose its value over time and means you don’t have to alter your will if your circumstances should change. Generally this type of will is less complicated to update or amend.
If you wish to make a major change to your will, or have not got round to making a will yet, you might find the guidance given on the government’s MoneyHelper website helpful, or should you wish to find a local solicitor the Law Society can help.
If you already have a will but would like to add a gift to Severn Hospice, you can do so by instructing your solicitor to add a ‘codicil’, this is a simple addition to your instructions and saves having to rewrite your will. If you are considering a major change to your will then a codicil may not be appropriate.
We’ve partnered with expert will writers, Octopus Legacy, to offer you the chance to write your will for FREE today. If you are ready to do that, just click here and it will take you to our space on the Octopus Legacy website. Thank you.

Gift Aid, which enables UK taxpayers to enhance their donation value to charities by 25%, is not applicable to legacy gifts.
From time to time, despite very clear instructions being given in an individual’s will, relatives have made a legal claim contesting the gift to our hospice. If you are disinheriting close family members please write a note explaining the reasons why and leave this with your will to help ensure your wishes are fulfilled to help our cause which is so special to you.
A gift in your will makes our care possible. If you are considering
which charities to support in your will, leaving a charitable donation
to Severn Hospice really does make a huge difference to local families.
